7/2/2007 9:23:00 PM Letter: Legitimate handicap space users out there
EDITOR:
I would like to answer Diane MacKaben's letter in the June 23 edition of The Daily Courier.
I am handicapped. I am 80 years old. I look extremely normal for my age, and people say I look in my 60s. I am a retired Marine Corps Sgt. Major and served from 1945 to 1972.
I was healthy as a horse until one month before my 72nd birthday when Myasthenia Gravis struck me with a vengeance.
I am very weak and cannot walk far distances. Yet, to look at me, you would not know I am disabled.
I realize that there are lots of people who may be taking advantage of handicapped parking spaces, but this is America, where lawbreakers have more rights than decent people.
Just remember you cannot judge a book by its cover.
