Unsung Hero Award given to Betty Hanf
This month we have a unique Unsung Hero Award that is in honor of Betty Hanf, a Camp Verde Library volunteer. She passed away this spring after being with the library for approximately 25 years. She was nominated by the director of the library, Jerry Laurito, who worked with her.

Run for the Creeks big success
With more than 225 participants, this year's Run for the Creeks on Saturday, Aug. 28, was a great success. Runners from ages 2 to 95 competed in 10k, 5k, and 1k runs, as well as a 2-mile invitational for elite runners.

Willow Lake trail was no match for the runners. Sixteen runners competed in the two-mile invitational over steep hills.

The Northern Arizona Council of Governments Regional Council (NACOG) recently elected the following new officers and Executive Committee members: Supervisor Thomas Thurman of Yavapai County as Chairman; Vice Mayor Kerry Ballard of Snowflake as Vice Chairman; and Supervisor Liz Archuleta of Coconino Country as Secretary-Treasurer. Also elected to the Executive Committee were Mayor John Moore of Williams; Councilor Lora Lee Nye of Prescott Valley; and Mr. Tom Hansen of Apache County. Supervisor J.R. DeSpain of Navajo County will serve the council as the Immediate Past Chairman.
