Dewey-Humboldt council study session focuses on improvement projects
The Daily Courier

The Dewey-Humboldt Town Council this week will conduct a joint meeting and study session with the town's ad hoc Capital Improvement Program Committee to discuss the latter's proposed fiscal year 2010 projects.

Tuesday at 3 p.m. inside Town Hall, 2735 S. Highway 69, the council and the committee's citizen members will look at the FY 2010 CIP list prior to the council's scheduled vote Feb. 17.

By early May, the CIP Committee expects to finalize a recommended listing to council for projects going from FY 2011 through 2019.

Once council approves the FY 2010 CIP, staff will attempt to put those projects into the FY 2010 tentative budget, which is subject to public hearings before final adoption.

Proposed future projects include town road and drainage improvements, open space preservation, trail building, and an Agua Fria Riparian Restoration effort.

Later in the meeting, the CIP Committee will meet separately to look at an overview of the town's revenue projections for FY 2010, which begins in July.

The committee will also receive an overview of the International Energy Conservation Code from town building official Terry Ford.

The code focuses on ways residential and commercial builders can construct more energy-efficient structures that save people money on their utility bills while protecting the environment.
