A man is being treated at Yavapai Regional Medical Center's east campus after a shooting Monday morning in Prescott Valley, Prescott Valley Police Officer Paul Dunn said.
At 8:43 a.m., officers answered a 911 call about a fight in progress in the 6800 block of E. Spouse Drive, and soon afterwards there was a report of shots fired, Dunn said.
A Caucasian man in his twenties severely injured in the incident was taken by Life Line Ambulance to YRMC's east campus, Dunn said.
"Officers took a suspect into custody at the scene, and then took him to the Prescott Valley police station for questioning," said Dunn, noting that the suspect is also a Caucasian man in his twenties.
The names of the suspect, the injured man, and what led to the fight are not being released at this time, Dunn said.

The apartments where the shooting happened also has a jerk who shoots a pellet gun at passing cars, around midnight once a month on Glassfordhill & Spouse Dr. This happened to me and I was told by PV police that it happens about once a month. they are taking reports. this person could go to bigger guns if someone does not turn him in. Had the pellet hit the window instead of the middle of the door. I could have been blinded or just hit in the face with glass and had a wreck and hit a car coming the other way head on maybe killing someone. I no longer drive in that area at night. ... I was in Viet Nam for 13 months and never got shot at. I move to P.V. AZ and get shot at. ... As I heard on TV common sense is just not that common anymore, its a shame this is true.

To Holy Moly
Are you serious right now? Someone lost their life and you're concerned about EMT appearances? Get over yourself. His shirt isnt tucked in because it came out of his pants trying to pull a 300lbs stretcher. That medic student is also working his hardest to save a life. HIs hair does not matter. If you are that concerned with appearances of healthcare professionals, don't call 911 or ever get care. That's horrible. Shame on you. Someones appearance has NOTHING to do with their knowledge or skills.

Why isn't that Life Line EMT's shirt tucked in?!?!?
Why does that medic student have a gosh darned MOHAWK?!?!?
VERY unprofessional. If I had a medical emergency at my house, I would not feel comfortable having someone with a mohawk working on me! Let's get it together guys!

The girl was going to pick up her children from her ex who is a COWARD. The victim was all of 5' 5" and harmless, he was also my daughter's fiance. He went because he was a great friend and ended up dead for no reason. He is loved by all who know him and will be missed forever. Some of these people who have commented do not even think about the family & friends going through this... Put yourselves in our shoes and use your heart for a second. Let him rest in peace. He deserves that and so much more.

Guns + Poverty = Chaos
Yes, I would rather see the headline you proposed. I think anyone has better chances surviving against hand to hand combat than they do against a crazed person with a gun. And you get to think otherwise, with all due respect.

If only someone had a gun to intercede in such a situation. Oh, I mean another gun. Fact is if we all had a gun we could have nipped this in the bud right away. Lets hope and pray there is a reasonable justification for this mess. Yea, I'll settle for a reasonable explanation. No jail time needed, just a good excuse.

Please people. Put down the weapons. I believe in 2nd Amendment freedoms, but take the weapon out to Orme Road, drive out into the middle of nowhere, and discharge your weapon there. Relieve the stress, but make sure you are 1/4 mile from any house per the county regs. The gun violence has to stop.

Hey "she isn't worth it" -....nailed it!!!
excuse me while i go purchase more ammo.....for my gun, that i carry, that I will use to protect my family and myself. Lets just hope that I never have to use it!

Just like Phoenix & LA
Northern Arizona is getting very much like the Phoenix valley area as well as Los Angeles. After awhile, you just get used to it and it becomes normal everyday life. I have lived in both areas and know this very well. Tomorrow is another day and another shooting. Welcome to the melting pot of America 2012.

@ Guns + Poverty = Chaos
Violent social chaos = unemployment + immorality + violent behavior.
If guns aren't available, other things are: bricks, molotov cocktails, machetes, golf clubs, knives, wrists, fists, elbows, etc.

Dear Oracle, It sounds like it is time for you to move on. Maybe you can find a place where more people are like you. ... This town is full of great and hard working people trying to make ends meet and take care of their families. The vast majority do it without stealing, even the crap in your yard. ... Eight years in military does not mean you know anything. Based on what I have seen you write here, I doubt it is even true. Please don't give all military personnel a bad name with your ... remarks. This is a time to grieve for a young man who lost his life. Leave you personal issues out of it.

Still Unusual
You can all be skeptical of my comment below but it doesn't bother me. I truly find it strange that it was a monday morning. Nights and weekends are proven to have higher criminal activity and murder rates than a monday morning. Keep your sarcasm to yourself. You can "doubt" my comment all you want, but it's not going to get you anywhere.

Just a thought.
Not that the comment has anything to do with the victim or the shooter. Don't know their situation, although it does not sound good.

It just seems bad, why be so serious
Only to be better prepared. When is the usual time people intentionally shoot each other? Actually, there'd have to be the time when someone just shoots people. And the usual times when you can expect shootouts.

RE Uh Oh
Uh Oh are you serious? It's strange and pre meditated because it was Monday morning? Crime never happens on the week days people!!! WE ARE NO LONGER SAFE DURING THE WEEK! WHATS GONNA HAPPEN ON TUESDAYS OMG...get real i highly doubt the shooter wrote it down in his day planner that he was free MONDAY to commit a crime and NO ONE would be on to him because the police were all booked up from the crimes that happend over the weekend.

Prescott Valley Resident
What we need is more duplex apartments, low cost housing and a prison and it's related residents. More dollar stores and a trailer park would help also. Time to step up to the plate and change the Walmart mentality the leadership in this community is heading towards. It's our town let's take it back.
