3/6/2010 9:59:00 PM Tuesday 'Tele-town hall' focuses on veterans
Special to the Courier
U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick will continue her "Ask Ann" tele-town hall series with a conversation at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday about how to make sure the country keeps its promises to veterans.
This will be the third tele-town hall in the "Ask Ann" series. Participants can dial in toll free to 877-269-7289, then press 15024 when prompted. They can ask the Congresswoman questions by pressing *3.
As the daughter and niece of soldiers and a member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Rep. Kirkpatrick said she is staunchly committed to helping veterans.
She was a co-sponsor of the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act, which requires Congress to approve the VA health care budget one year in advance. This change, known as "advance appropriations," allows for timely and predictable budgeting to help ensure the highest quality of health care for veterans, Kirkpatrick said.
The Congresswoman also introduced a measure to increase health care access to veterans living in rural areas.
And she voted for a bill to increase benefits for disabled veterans, their families and their survivors to help them keep pace with the rising cost of basic needs.
