Corporal Stephen James Raderstorf, 21, of Peoria, Ariz., died in the line of duty in Balad, Iraq, on Sunday, Jan. 7.
Raderstorf was born Dec. 23, 1985, in Mesa. He lived in Indiana, California, Uganda and East Africa over the course of his childhood. He was a 2003 graduate of Prescott High School.
Raderstorf graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., on Aug. 5, 2005, then was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was deployed to Iraq on Oct. 1, 2006.
He is survived by his parents, James and Sharon Raderstorf; and brothers Philip and Joel, all of Peoria; fraternal grandparents Don and Joyce Raderstorf of Sun City; and maternal grandfather, Max Graham of Glasford, Ill.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., in Glendale. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary. Military honors will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
